asked questions :
Do
I get a free introductory lesson?
Yes
you do, in fact you get two, call us on 1300 653 960
and we will let you know where the nearest class to
you is.
What
if I am not fit enough or co-ordinated enough to join
in?
Not
a problem! We find that those that need us the most
often make the best students and progress the furthest!
Yin Yang TKD is self paced, you set the parameters on
what you do and how fast you do it. In no time at all
you will feel fitter and healthier and look a part of
the class!
Can
I train with my kids?
Absolutely,
in fact this is one of the few arts in which you can!
What better way to teach juniors to defend against adults
than to have them train together. We do split the classes
up midway through training though to give you adults
a bit more in depth training!
Is
your sparring full contact?
As
a rule No. For the majority, our sparring and training
is controlled contact. The Kids (under 10) operate on
a no contact basis. Others can expect controlled contact
appropriate to their level, age, gender, physical make-up
and of course, their personal choice of intensity level.
An Adult male Black belt grading test is certainly not
for the fient hearted. For those adult students that
wish to "mix it up" so to speak, you are more
than welcome to bring along full safety gear, gloves
etc and train after class time in a full contact training
environment.
How
often can I grade?
Well,
that depends on you, normally every four months, however,
depending on your ability and your prior experience
this will vary. Your instructor will work with you to
assist you in achieving your next goal!
Do
you offer family discounts if more than one person from
my family trains?
Yes
we do, when you drop into one of our classes for your
introductory lesson we will kindly give you all the
details you need!
Do
I need a uniform?
Not
immediately, we find that people normally purchase one
within two months of starting their training,
if you want one straight away we can organise it! Stdent
must wear the Official ITF Dobok and have the Yin Ynag
School logo upon it.
How
many times a week should I train?
To
get the most out of the art two weekly lessons plus
some of your own training at home should suffice. As
you get closer towards Black Belt you may wish to do
a bit extra.
How
long does it take to get a Black Belt?
Well,
again that depends on you and your experience. Any where
from two and a half years to fours years seems to be
the average.
Is
it safe?
Yes,
our Instructors ensure that safety procedures and protocols
are strictly adhered too in class. Our controled contact
philosophy goes a long way when it comes to preventing
injury's! In addition, the diligence of our Instructors,
the type of students we attract and our member quality
control means that the environment you train in is excellent
and very safe. We meet the standards required to teach
in Queensland Police Citizens Youth Centres and their
criteria is among the toughest!
Please
note, all Instructors their government "working
with children" Blue card. Additionally, all
instructors have a current first aid certificate and
have completed NCAS level one coaching competencies
course. We take our students safety extremely seriously!
Do
you have a program beyond Black Belt?
Absolutely,
we have both a black belt curriculum and an Instructor
curriculum in place. You only just begin to learn technique
at Black Belt level, in fact you have a further 15 intricate
black belt patterns to add to the 9 coloured belt patterns
you have learnt which will keep you busily improving
for many years to come.
I
have done another style before, can I train with you.
Yes
you can. Students from any credible Taekwon-Do back
ground will be accepted upon verification of their current
rank up to that of 3rd Degree. Those from an Art outside
of Taekwon-Do would be required to progress through
the syllabus as any normal beginner would.
What
makes Yin Yang different from the other arts?
Thats
simple to answer, You do!
Martial
Arts organisations are only ever as good as the students
that make up that Art. If you want to be in an Art that
you are proud of then strive to be the best at what
you do. Train hard, have fun and listen to your instructor.
Our sole purpose is to get you to be the best you can
be. We work together as a team on your goals and what
you want to achieve. You get written feedback on your
progress every 4 months and we follow up to ensure you
are on track with your training. At the end of the day,
our quality systems and excellent Instructors mean nothing
if you dont try your best. You are what makes
Yin Yang Taekwon-Do different from the others.
